Working with the Musée des Confluences

A scientific partnership...

The ENS de Lyon has been a partner of the Musée des Confluences project since 2002 and one of its founding members since the museum's inauguration in 2014. Our school plays a key part in the museum's scientific and cultural policy by cooperating with it in the fields of research, knowledge exchange, education and digital projects.

Both institutions are geographically close and both share a mission of production and dissemination of knowledge.
Together, the museum and the ENS de Lyon mobilize their resources in soft and hard sciences to help make our contemporary world more comprehensible. Their interaction makes the museum a space of research and innovation.

Science Festival

Throughout the weekend of October 10-11, 2015, the Musée des Confluences hosted an educational workshop set up by the ENS de Lyon's junior lab DéMesures, as well as animations from our Maths and Computer Science House

More than 6,000 museum visitors took part in these free and fun activities.

Persée Programme

Persé is a one of the most important digital library for Francophone academic documents providing free and open access to the back files of journals, serials, books and proceedings. Currently, more than 580 000 documents are available ; the oldest journal dates back to 1840 and is still published today.

The partnership with the Musée des Confluences started in October 2015 with the digitization and indexation of all of the publications of the Natural History Museum of Lyon (to which the Musée des Confluences used to belong) from 1872 to 2013.

These titles will be available for consultation on the Persée website in fall 2016.

Junior Lab

"The issues of our contemporary world provide myriad research questions. We need to ask ourselves these questions to make the world more intelligible: for visitors, students, researchers and teachers of the ENS de Lyon, for all community stakeholders"
