The ENS de Lyon and uOttawa have decided to create an international network of universities to develop a shared arena for training and research. This partnership is yet another example of the multilateral collaborations supported by the Alliance internationale de l'Université de Lyon.


The ENS de Lyon and the University of Ottawa (uOttawa) have agreed on a partnership that officially began in 2009. Collaborations cover training and research in exact sciences, human and social sciences, educational sciences and interdisciplinary studies.


Research: joint research programs
  • LIA-FUNCAT, "Fundamental catalysis for Green Chemistry": launched on April 17, 2014, the LIA-FUNCAT focuses on collaborative research between the teams of both countries in fundamental catalysis in the field of green chemistry.
    Partners: CNRS, University of Ottawa, ENS de Lyon
  • Joint research projects in biology, chemistry, Asian studies
  • Visiting professors for each institution

Training: implementation of dedicated programs
  • Student mobility via the ORA, Ontario – Rhône-Alpes program.
  • Summer Undergraduate International Research Internship (SIRI) program, coordinated by the Alliance internationale de l'Université de Lyon.
    “Initiation to research” program, involving a dozen of Canadian students each year. The host institutions for internships in Lyon are the ENS de Lyon, Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, Ecole centrale de Lyon.
  • Bromley Memorial Lecture exchange program with the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (uOttawa), coordinated by the Alliance internationale de l'Université de Lyon.
    D. Allan Bromley memorial lecture (uOttawa, George Washington University), bringing together the main North American science policy experts in the field of Science, Technology and Innovation. Students from the ENS de Lyon’s ADMIRE Master attend this lecture every year.
