Patrick Flandrin - Research Director at the CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research) at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon and a member of the Academy of Sciences - is the 2018 recipient of the IEEE Signal Processing Society Technical Achievement Award (formerly known as the Achievement Award).

The Achievement Award honors a person who, over a period of years, has made outstanding technical contributions to theory and/or practice in technical areas within the scope of the Society, as demonstrated by publications, patents, or recognized impact on the field. Patrick Flandrin will be presented with this price in Canada by next April.

IEEE and its members inspire a global community to innovate for a better tomorrow through its more than 423,000 members in over 160 countries, and its highly cited publications, conferences, technology standards, and professional and educational activities. IEEE is the trusted “voice” for engineering, computing, and technology information around the globe. Also, the IEEE Signal Processing Society is the world’s premier professional society for signal processing scientists and professionals since 1948.

We should mention that Patrick Flandrin is the first French researcher to obtain The Achievement Award since its creation in 1954. Cocorico!
