For the first time ever, the city of Lyon will host the Franco-Chinese Cultural Forum - «the cultural silk road, the Franco-Chinese encounter”. The event, the second of its kind, will take place on September 26 and 27, 2017. It was set up through the initiative of the FPI (La Fondation Prospective et Innovation) headed by Jean-Pierre Raffarin. This multi-disciplinary event will bring together hundreds of French and Chinese political, cultural and economic key players, to discuss initiatives helping both countries to work closely together.

Organisers:
  • WRSA – Western Returned Scholars Association
  • Yishu8 – Arts Center from Beijing
  • FPI - Fondation Prospective et Innovation
  • The City of Lyon and the Lyon Metropolis and their operator in Franco-Chinese relations, the New Franco-Chinese Institute (Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois).
The first forum, held in 2016 in Beijing, mainly addressed cultural issues. This year, the Franco-Chinese Cultural Forum has opened up to new disciplines on the theme of "Territorial Culture and Attractiveness". This forum is supported by leading figures, such as Chen Zhu (former Minister of Health, Vice-President of the National People's Assembly), Jean-Pierre Raffarin (former French prime minister, president of the Prospective and Innovation Foundation), David Kimelfeld (President of Lyon Metropolis), Georges Képénékian (mayor of Lyon), Thierry de la Tour Dashqooni (CEO of the SEB Group and president of the new Franco-Chinese Institute - Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois) ; in addition to presidents and general managers from the new Franco-Chinese institute's patron companies.

How ENS de Lyon will be taking part in the forum

  • Discovery of the museums, “Musées des Confluences” and the biennial of contemporary art, with the assistance of a dozen Chinese doctoral students working jointly with ENS Lyon/ECNU who have volunteered to be assistant mediators (25 and 26 September).
