Exchange programs

Students can join the ENS de Lyon for one or two semesters as part of an exchange program with their home university:
  • Bilateral agreements
  • ERASMUS
  • ORA (Ontario)
  • CREPUQ (Quebec)

Application process

APPLICATION OPENING ON MARCH 15th

Deadline for application

  • by April 30th (online application) for students who wish to study for the first semester or the full academic year (deadline for receipt of the application form and documents required: May 18th)
  • by October 30th (online application) for those who wish to study for the second semester (deadline for receipt of the application form and documents required: November 15th)

Language proficiency required

  • In the arts, humanities and social sciences: C1 level required (being comfortable enough in French to follow the program)
     
  • In exact sciences: B2 level in French and/or English required (being sufficiently proficient in French and/or English to follow the courses) [Read more]

Step 1

Complete the online PRINS form. In the "Application/Pre-enrolment" tab, select YES to the question: "You are a foreign student and you are coming to the ENS within the framework of an exchange program (ERASMUS, CREPUQ, ORA...)".

Step 2

Save and submit the online application.

Step 3

Download the form in pdf, print it and provide the additional information requested, including the Self Assessment Grid - we need this to assess your language skills.

Step 4

Once it has been signed by you and your home university, please send the printed form along with the following documents:
  • Your grades and results for this year and last year
  • A copy of your identity card or passport
  • If you are applying to courses in the arts and humanities: a certification of your level in French.
  • If you are applying to study exact sciences: a certification of your level in French AND in English.
PLEASE NOTE: use a black pen, no staples, no double-sided copying and no A3 format.

Step 5

If your application is accepted, you will receive a letter of admission to the ENS – which non-EU citizens will need to obtain a student visa.

Step 6: Enrolling at the ENS de Lyon

To confirm your enrollment and to obtain your student card, the ENS Office of International Affairs will call you in for an appointment to which you will need to bring the documents listed here.

Once your enrollment is completed, you must contact the international coordinator of your department to finalise your course options, and the Department secretary to know all about your schedule.
